Your journey, should you venture forth on this path, will inevitably lead you to foreign terrain. This is where I come in- as a guide on your expedition to explore and map the landscape of your lived experience. With warm intention, respectful curiosity, and depth of presence, I am ready to accompany you on your journey to chart that new territory. I have worked with clients from the ages of eighteen to eighty-seven. The bulk of my experience has been in the realm of inpatient treatment for substance use issues. In that work, I have found the lens of loss to provide a stable scaffolding for experience. Often, substance use manifests as a means of controlling an intensely painful emotional experience, such as grief which demands to be acknowledged. I have collaborated with hundreds of clients to explore both death loss (overdose, suicide) and non-death loss (capacities, identities, relationships, roles, ways of being). I see my work as a collaboration with individuals navigating the liminal space toward an authentic and grounded sense of self. Through our work together, we may enfranchise grief, clarify and refine definitions and understanding of self, and envision new possibilities. We get to engage in many different metaphorical roles in the therapeutic space: architect, author, explorer, evaluator, historian… the only limits are our own. I meld several different frameworks and orientations (e.g., attachment, narrative, psychodynamic) to exist in relation with clients as my most authentic self, a way in which is uniquely my own and which looks different in each therapeutic relationship.
