Laura Babineau, M. ED., LPC

I am passionate about supporting people who are experiencing grief and recovering from trauma. Everyone experiences grief differently, but my personal experience with grief and trauma informs my work and allows me to approach it from a place of empathy and understanding. My years of experience have taught me that working with a client’s natural strengths can help promote lasting healing and change. I make every effort to create a partnership in which clients feel seen, understood, and supported. In addition to helping clients learn useful coping strategies, I am a trained and experienced EMDR practitioner. I also enjoy working with clients to explore deep questions of meaning, and spirituality. In addition to holding master’s degrees in education and counseling, I have been a guest lecturer for the graduate counseling program at Texas State University and provided educational trainings in the Austin community. I have multiple years of experience leading support groups and working with individuals and couples, both in-person and online. My approach is eclectic and tailored to meet the needs of every individual client and is influenced by my studies in the areas of existential, attachment, and narrative therapies. My specialties include: pregnancy loss, infant and child loss, multiple losses, complex grief/prolonged grief disorder, losses due to suicide/substance abuse, traumatic loss/trauma recovery, spiritual issues and meaning-making. I believe in the strength, wisdom, and resilience of the human spirit. I believe that post traumatic growth is not only possible, but that it is a natural ability that can be nurtured and encourage to flourish. I consider it a great honor to do this work and look forward to meeting new clients.
