Lauren Gaspar, LCSW-S, RPT-S has treated victims of trauma and grief for 25 years. She specializes in treating survivors of all forms of loss (expected and unexpected deaths, stigmatized deaths, anticipated deaths), and those facing PTSD, medical trauma, depression, and anxiety. She specializes treating those after the loss from a suicide. She utilizes various forms of treatment including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), play therapy, sand tray therapy, and art therapy.
Lauren holds a Masters degree in Social Work from Boston University. She is a Registered Play Therapist, a board approved supervisor, and is certified in EMDR. Additionally, she serves as an expert witness in court cases of domestic violence and sexual assault/abuse.
Lauren's experience has provided her with many opportunities to create healing for victims of severe trauma and loss. She worked with the renowned Good Grief Program of Boston from 2001 to 2003 providing individual and group therapy for children and adults whose family members had died during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. She taught Grief Counseling at the Steve Hicks Gradate School of Social Work at UT and is a previous Board President of the Central Texas American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Lauren opened the doors to the Good Mourning Counseling Center in 2006, which has grown into a group practice with locations in Westlake, Austin, and Round Rock. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Association for Play Therapy.
